First Takes: Dad & His Lads

    When Harrold Grogan went into his son's recording studio in Nashville, TN, to lay down some tracks, it was suppose to be "just for fun." What it turned out to be was pure gold!

The senior Grogan, along with his two sons, Dan (bass), and Tim (keyboards/drums), nailed three familiar standards perfectly all on the first takes  -  thus the title of this CD.

Grogan, who sang with trumpeter Sonny Dunham's Sonny Siders in 1946, belies the fact that he was 83 years old when he recorded these selections. His pipes are robust and full of verve.

What turned out to be a "family heirloom" of sorts is now available for everyone's enjoyment.
