Garry Stevens
Musical Memories Of A Band Singer... Then And Now

This CD is a nice retrospective of original hit recordings by crooner Garry Stevens during his stints in the 1940s as the "boy singer" in the bands of trumpeter Charlie Spivak and saxophonist Tex Beneke.
Also included are selections of a small combo band Stevens led while hosting a variety television show during the 1950s in Schenectady, NY, tracks from a big band he co-led during the 1980s and '90s, and some recent live recordings while performing as a guest artist with a Northern California big band.
In 2004, Stevens turned 88 and still performs with verve and vigor in his voice. A great collector's item for big band enthusiasts from the "oldest living boy singer."
