Ina Ray Hutton and her Orchestra
Radio Broadcasts From 1943

Ina Ray Hutton was without question, the sexiest of all the big bandleaders. The early part of her career was spent fronting an all-girl orchestra called the Melo-Dears which never achieved any great musical heights, but because it was an all-girl outfit, it did receive some commercial acceptance.
In 1940, Hutton re-organized her band with all male musicians, several of whom were good jazz players. In fact, her ensemble had a very modern and hip sound to it, with the leader herself providing the eye-appealing "window dressing."
This CD contains three radio broadcasts of Hutton's band from 1943 entertaining military personnel and defense plant workers stateside. In addition to Hutton's vocal talents, the broadcasts also feature the band's romantic baritone, Stuart Foster, and the Chinese female singing trio, The Kim Loo Sisters. Tenor Morton Downey, known as "The Irish Nightingale," joins the Hutton troupe from a performance in Batavia, NY.
